moonlit fables

Friday the Gallery is pleased to present Moonlit Fables, a collection of multimedia works by Kate Burke, Sam Thurman, Delaney Cloyd, Steffen Sornpao and AnnaBrooke Hill Greene, curated by Delaney Cloyd. The exhibition features elements of fine art and design, highlighting how it would feel to live amongst the art. The works center around the congregation of human manipulation, organic forms and storytelling, visualizing how the artists interpret the natural world through cultural narratives.

The collection of works include mosaic, silver, ink, metal, found objects, wood, 3D printing and textile. This diversity in material lends itself to the perspectives of each artist, juxtaposing soft and industrial mediums linking the natural with human intervention. Delaney’s works of silver on painted canvas are inspired by surreal forms in plants often given mythological backgrounds to anthropomorphize the other worldly aesthetics. Sam Thurman’s study of the human spirit through memories or naturally occurring sacred design, exploring what it means to create in the modern world. Kate Burke’s current work is a practice of re-contextualizing contemporary spirituality through the lens of craft and myth. This quality of dreamlike exploration informed by folklore, memory and spirituality continues through each artist’s work.

These artists are inspired by the community based space of Friday the Gallery, which seeks to be a place of connection and conversation for local up and coming artists.
